Guenin (COL) and Hodgson (NSH) on waivers. Higgins (VAN) clears.

A former 1st round pick of the Vancouver Canucks, Hodgson has struggled to score since his time with the Sedins. He has accrued 3g – 5a – 8pts in 39 games with NSH while playing a predominantly 3rd/4th line role (TOI 10:44).
His enhanced statline is far more impressive (per hockey-reference.com).
CF% = 57.9%
CF% Rel = +3.4%
FF% = 59.7%
FF% Rel = +4.9%
Roughly 53% of his zone starts are on offence, so zone deployment doesn’t appear to be ballooning those numbers.
However, the above statistics appear to be fairly anomalous – Hodgson has not put up particularly impressive possession metrics at any of his previous NHL stops. Because Nashville is such a strong possession team, it’s more likely that the team and the system are the primary factors in Hodgson’s numbers.
A team with significant injuries to its top six or looking for an offensive boost in its bottom six might consider making the addition. Most teams, however, are looking for more energy (versatility of skills) or youth in those positions, so I won’t be surprised if Hodgson clears.
